Dear Milt,

I just heard about the company's decision to let you go. I am saddened that community TV is losing such a wise and compassionate voice. I have always been deeply impressed by your broad knowledge of television production and you never-failing professionalism. I strongly believe that community TV has lost one of its greatest assets. You will be missed!

I wish you the best in your next endeavor. Your future undertakings are sure to be grand.

Tape Library Housekeeping! ..............
To prevent our tape library from overflowing with program tapes, please insure that no more than six (6) tapes are "in-house" at any given time. We suggest that you visit the TV-25 facility on a monthly basis to drop-off and pick-up new and old programs. This will also be a good time to schedule "air-dates". Remember that programs without scheduled "air-dates" are subject to preemption.

NOTE: We are not responsible for any expired programs left in the facility past 30 days. Thanks for your cooperation.

Except for "live" shows you will need to provide playback dates for all submitted programs. In an effort to save producers time and gas money, playback dates can be submitted via email. In-house tape based programs can be scheduled no less than 48 hours prior to "air" time and seven days for programs submited on DVD.

NOTE: This web-site is operated by volunteers, communication is limited to personal visits to the TV-25 facility and email.

How To Improve Program Audio Quality
In recent years more and more producers are purchasing their own equipment to both capture and edit their TV-25 community programs. Because much of this equipment falls in to the consumer equipment category, many profession features normally available on broadcast equipment are not available

Over the last couple of years we have seen a steady increase in several technical area's that are reducing the quality of programs submitted for broadcast (cablecast).

Many month's ago we were in the process of preparing our master control facility to begin the changeover from video tape to DVD. Unfortunately we realized the manipulating DVD's in a time critical environment, like master control, is not practical. So until DVD's become more reliable we are staying with video tape for both ease of use and reliability.

One of our biggest problems is audio. From poor quality microphone techniques to drastic level changes between program segments is just the tip of the iceberg. One problem that is on the increase is poor audio quality in the original production process. Many producers are using consumer grade camcorders with built in microphones. One of the question we frequently get is "how do I connect a lavaliere or hand held microphone to my camera?"

Well I'm happy to tell you that there is an easy solution to that problem. B&H Photo, one of the major players in the video equipment sales industry, is now producing Pod Cast's on many of their products. In the coming months we will publish more articles to assist you with information on how to improve your programs. As always if you have additional questions, please ask. 1
